Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has urged the party leaders and workers not to abuse power saying it is not permanent.
He said this while participating in various development projects and distribution of grants among the families of indigent, devoted and deceased leaders and workers in his constituency Noakhali's Kompaniganj upazila on Monday morning. Obaidul Quader joined the event via video conference from his official residence.
Calling on the leaders and workers of the party to help and co-operate with the indigent and sick people of any party, the general secretary of the Awami League said, "Power is not permanent, so do not abuse power."
Warning the leaders and workers, Quader said, "The door of Awami League is closed forever for those who are involved in land grabbing, terrorism, extortion and women abusers."
Addressing the party leaders and workers, Obaidul Quader said, "Leaders in politics will be ideological teachers, they have to be followed."
Referring to various projects already undertaken in Noakhali for the development of road communication infrastructure, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, "The Feni-Chaumuhani-Sonapur Charlane project is underway and plans are being taken to further improve rail connectivity." Apart from widening the road, the bend of Kabirhat-Sonapur road has been simplified.
"Almost everything has already been fulfilled as per the election promise in my constituency, electricity has reached every house and gas supply will be provided soon," the minister said.
Obaidul Quader remarked that a party has chosen the path of fire and terror to take revenge on the people after failing in the movement and elections one after another. "The BNP shamelessly says that they do not believe in fire and terrorism!" He said, "It is a continuation of BNP's anti-politics to burn people with gunpowder." '
Warning the BNP, Obaidul Quader said, "There is still time not to play with fire. The politics of destroying people's lives and property can lead to the untimely death of your politics to the people. '
The Awami League general secretary also said that talking about democracy in secret will not bring any result in secret undemocratic practices.
Regarding the BNP's threat to occupy the highways, Obaidul Quader said, "People have not leased the highways to you to take over." He said, "People know how to free the highways from misappropriation."
